Where it all began

Bookwiz began its journey in Perth, WA, in 2000, founded by Martine Hoosen. Over the years the firm built a strong reputation for helping business owners achieve real clarity over their numbers and reach their full potential – earning National Bookkeeping Firm of the Year two years running (2018 and 2019), with Martine recognised as the 2019 National Bookkeeper of the Year.

A new chapter

Bookwiz is now under the ownership of Dinesh Bhatia and Lavisha Bhatia (Phoenix Accountants & Advisors and Figures Matter).

Dinesh and Lavisha’s story began when they left high-profile careers in the resources industry to help local businesses instead. They started Phoenix Accountants & Advisors from a small subleased office in Osborne Park, WA, focused on high-end financial strategy and part-time CFO services for small and medium businesses. It quickly became clear that great strategic advice needs a great set of books behind it, so the team added quality bookkeeping and accounting services to take the pressure off business owners.

As the client base grew, so did the team, and the practice moved into a larger office in Stirling, WA. In December 2017, Dinesh and Lavisha brought their expertise across to Canberra, acquiring Figures Matter to expand operations to the East Coast. With a combined 50+ years of experience in finance across the team, they now service clients throughout Perth, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane – and, with Bookwiz on board, that family continues to grow.
